Learning a History that is not yet History? – authors team event in Belgrade, Serbia

How to teach the history of recent wars that is often considered not to be history yet, but is remembered in so many different ways, and has been investigated in great detail in the context of transitional justice? This is the main question the project seeks to answer by investing in a unique partnership among teachers and their associations from former Yugoslavia, in which transnational teams will collaboratively create a free ready-to-use learning resource about the 1990s Yugoslav wars. Balkan Educators Meet in Zagreb to Kick-Off Project on Learning History That Is Not Yet History

On 23 to 25 September, the new EUROCLIO project, ‘Learning History that is not yet History?, kicked off in Zagreb, Croatia. The meeting brought together a team of 6 educators from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Montenegro, to discuss, plan, and develop the contents of this exciting new project on teaching the 1990s wars in the former Yugoslavia. Third Regional Seminar on Human Rights Held in Čakovec, Croatia

Čakovec, a small city in the north of Croatia, was a good host for the 50 teachers that attended several activities during “3rd regional seminar on human rights” on the 22nd to 24th May, marking 70 years since the transportation of Jews from Medjimurje County to Auschwitz. The event, organised by EUROCLIO member the Association for Education and Human Rights Promotion (AEHRP) and was held under the title “Where was the man” and involved a visit to the international exhibition ‘Anne Frank – A History forToday’, a full day of lectures and workshops relating to civic education and human rights, and finally a study visit to Mauthausen memorial museum. AEHRP has been elected as a Full Member of EUROCLIO

This is an official letter confirming that the Association for Education and Human Rights Promotion (AEHRP) has been elected as a Full Member of EUROCLIO, European Association of History Educators as the result of majority votes by the EUROCLIO Full Member Associations present at the EUROCLIO General Assembly that was held on 5 April 2014 in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia.
